Xiaomi is one of the many manufacturers that haven’t yet launched a water-resistant smartphone yet, and their founder Lei Jun has revealed the reasons for not launching one. Jun said that any damage to the handset will deteriorate water resistance and with time it won't be able to resist water. Further, Jun also added that making a water-resistant device will make the device costly.
Xiaomi only recently unveiled its Mi Band 2 fitness tracker, the third in series after the Mi Band and the Mi Band 1s. The Mi Band 2 is currently priced at 149 Yuan or about 25US$. The fitness tracker is currently announced for the Chinese market and its next destination is soon to be India.
The next iteration of Xiaomi’s popular and affordable fitness band, the Mi Band 2 is confirmed to arrive on the 7 June. CEO Jun Lei had earlier given a sneak peek of the band, back in April, which was originally expected to launch on 10 May when the company announced the Mi Max and MIUI 8.
