While a proper smart watch from Xiaomi arrives in the second half of 2016, the company has launched a smart watch for kids.
The Xiaomi Mi Bunny smart watch is currently exclusive to China and Xiaomi apparently has no other plans for their foreign markets. Since these are designed for kids, no normal features that exist on an actual smart watch might be found for the ridiculous price point of 46US$. The watch face is just a round dial with LED dot matrix display underneath that lights up to represent the message which the parent can send from the companion app. No this will be used to only send threat messages for the kids' parents and no proper social messaging activity like emotions, symbols can be transmitted.
However, the watch apparently lets the wearable to make it a point to speak to the kids' parents. This is because the Mi Bunny contains a GSM module. It also includes a GPS chip along with GLONASS in-built that can precisely pin-point the kid's location just in case of an emergency. This information will be transmitted in real time. There is also a smart watch app that provides security to the user like navigating them to safe areas only like their school or their house etc.
The wearable instantly begins beeping if the child goes off track without permissions. There is also an SOS button for the child to trigger in the case of distress that will shoot up an emergency alert to the assigned contacts. The Xiaomi Mi Bunny smart watch is powered by a 300mAh batter. Mi claims that it's enough to last 6 days of usage time. The data from the smart watch is encrypted at three levels, on the device, cloud and transmission. The Xiaomi Mi Bunny smart watch is waterproof as well.
