Fans Not Happy With Pokemon GO Update
When Niantic first revealed that a Pokemon GO update was to be released, fans were excited to say the least. There were various discussions held on what to expect with some hoping that a Legendary Pokemon would be included. The Pokemon Go Gen 2 update has come and for some fans, it appears to be a dud.
Following an announcement regarding its latest U.S. partner, the company told fans of plans to add new Pokemon. Just this Monday, Niantic released a statement stating that the new set of Pokemon would include those introduced on the Gold and Silver way back in 1998. To spice up the Pokemon Go Christmas event, there would also be a limited edition Pikachu to be released.
So what did the latest Pokemon GO update give to fans? For starters, there are indeed new Gen 2 Pokemon like Pichu and Togepi. The problem was that it was not even close to what fans expected ass in addition to the two mentioned, only "selected" Pokemon will be added.
The problem is that in order to get these new Pokemon, you will need to hatch eggs. For Pokemon Go fans, this feature has been decisive, to say the least. One the one hand you get that needed exercise but on the other, it does not offer the same level of camaraderie that catching Pokemon has.
Which brings us to the next question which is, what about the limited edition Pikachu? Well, Pikachu will be wearing a Santa hat and that's it. Niantic though did not say if this will still be available in Pokemon GO mobile game after the Christmas season.
When news of the update was first revealed, it was seen as an effort of bringing up this fledging game. Released in July of this year, it achieved 50 million downloads in a mere 19 days. But just a month later, figures show that Pokemon Go downloads had slowed down with daily active users starting to go down.
While some are upset with the Pokemon Go update, there are those who remain to be happy with it. Though they too have issues with the new Pokemon only available as eggs, they believe that it remains to be a good start for the new batch. These are the same fans that hope Niantic will eventually make good on their promise and release the entire Gen 2 Pokemon.
