The USPTO's Patents Allow A Peep Into What Apple And Other Manufacturers Are Working On
Reports on Forbes suggest that the Cupertino is currently working on display and touch sensor structures of electronic devices. The patent explains how touch sensors can be placed on any side of the device. Hence this technique will allow for new input sources. Apple is also planning to replace the physical buttons through these touch sensors. New areas may open for UI while using the back of the Smartphone for page turning or quick scrolling.
Apple May Work On the Rear of iPhone 8
The upcoming Smartphones in 2017 and 2018 will be a sheet of glass having curved edges and no buttons on the front. In fact using the rear of the portable device is not a new concept. Sony has already incorporated a touch panel to the rear of the screen in PS Vita a handheld gaming console. Hence rear of the handset may become a valuable area for differentiation and innovation.
Customers Are Now Expecting The Release Of iPhone 8
Mirror reports that Apple is holding back few groundbreaking features for the next year's model. The iPhone 7 was released in September and the Apple fans are now expecting an awesome iPhone 8.
