NBA star Lebron James of 'Cleveland Cavaliers' Will Not Stay At Any Trump Hotels; What Will Trump Say?
Staying true to his words, LeBron James will not stay in any Trump Hotels. Even if he is dead tired from his practice with the NBA champion Cleveland Cavaliers. And it seems that it is not only James who is going to do so but some of his teammates as well.
The Cavs forward gave his full support for Hillary Clinton this past election season. He even wrote an op-ed in support of the Democrat candidate and appearing at her rallies in his home state of Ohio. As the Cavs head to New York City to take on Kristaps Porzingis and the whole New York Knicks, James found his own way to make clear his feelings about President-elect Donald Trump.
General Manager David Griffin said a number of Cavs players, including its star LeBron James, will not stay in the rooms the team booked at a Donald Trump-branded hotel in the Big Apple this week. He said The Cavs' team hotel for the games against the Knicks this season is Trump SoHo.
They clarified that they booked it before the 2016 presidential election in which Trump defeated Clinton. The team already made arrangements for players who will not stay at Trump SoHo. They agreed to sleep in a different non-Trump hotel this week for the Cavs' game against the Knicks this Wednesday, Griffin said.
The four-time MVP has been a strong advocate for social issues, particularly racism. He condemned the racist remarks of former Clippers owner Donald Sterling. He wore an "I Can't Breathe" shirt at the pregame warm-ups after the tragic death of Eric Garner, who died in the hands of the police. He also joined his Miami Heat teammates for a photo-op in their hoodies after Trayvon Martin also died of police brutality.
It is not only James and the whole Cavs. Several NBA teams also announced their plans on skipping out on Trump-branded road accommodations. How will Trump react to this? There is still no angry tweet but since it's Trump, expect some shots at Lebron and his team. Trump would probably shout out his support to the Knicks.
