The American video game developer, Naughty Dog Inc. has confirmed that they are working on part 2 of the action, adventure, and horror video game, The Last of Us. It was published by the multinational video game developer, product manufacturer and research and development company, Sony Computer Entertainment.

The top rating game was developed in 2009 and later on, it had its first released in June 2013 for PlayStation 3 and became one of the best-selling games. The game was selling over 1.3 million units in its first week, and over 8 million units in the span of fourteen months. Players were able to control the virtual characters that were the focus of the game. The story was about a man who was tasked to escort a teenage girl across its post-apocalyptic country.

Gamers can choose and use firearms or other improvised weapons and also use stealth to get rid of the hostile humans and human eating creatures which were infected by a mutated strain of fungi that includes 400 species. The game is written and directed by Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley. It also won some awards like Game of the Year from several gaming publications, award shows, and critics, considering it as one of the most awarded games in history.

Fans were left wanting more as the original game ended. Recently, it was announced that The Last of Us 2 is coming soon and still in development stage. Speculations and theories were then raised on how the story will go as the trailer was watched by the gamers and announced its storyline will be revenge-driven.

The game will be exclusive to PlayStation 4 and there is no official release date given. Druckmann also left a hint of what will be the theme of the sequel. He stated in the first game the theme was the love between these two characters. Then, the counterpart of the story follows, it is about hate. He also added that it might take some time, but rest assured that it's worth the wait.
