The “Biohazard” series, popular on western markets with the name “Resident Evil” is one of the most popular and influential games to have ever been made. “Resident Evil”, together with “Silent Hill” and “Alone in The Dark” practically crafted the survival horror genre into what it is today and games like “Amnesia” and “Outlast” may have never been made if it was not for their success.
After the fourth installment in the series, “Residen Evil” has had a few pretty rough years, but are Capcom bringing the series back into its roots? Gamespot shares an article on one of the enemies which will be seen in the new “Resident Evil 7”.
It shows an enemy who goes by the name of Jack Baker. He attacks the player and in the last possible moment, the player shoots him in the chest. After his apparent death, the main character passes his Jack’s dead body, just to hear “Now you are gonna get it”, as Jack rises from the ground and once again plunges at the player.
If immortal enemies sound like a good addition to you, wait until you hear Gamerant’s update on the series’ development. According to them and Capcom’s relesased teasers, the old save system is coming back. No more gentle touches with the feather of autosave and free game conservation.
If you want to secure your live and progress, you will have to find one of the hidden tape recorders and only then you will be allowed a little security. Will the new installment hold on to the expectations of the fans? Will it really be the game that will bring back the survival element in survival horror?
The Guardian has released a very promising article on the matter. The review the thought out design, the scares, the surprises which meet you as you play the game over and over again. Scripted events might not be as expected as before, as in different playthroughs some events might or might not appear, where in the articles is given the example of a girl’s apparition appearing through one of the runs, but never again.
The surprise together with the visual, audio and level design is a good promise for a new hit on the level of the first “Resident Evil” game, if the developers keep their promise from the demo and deliver same quality of horror over the whole extent of the game.
