Barcelona are without doubt one of the most coveted football clubs in the world and an opportunity to be associated with them is usually snapped by sponsors since the sort of exposure that it gives to the brand can hardly be surpassed by any other football club in the world. According to the latest reports, Barcelona are going to extend their relationship with US sportswear giant Nike and according to those in the know, this would be the biggest deal in the history of its kind.At this point in time, Manchester United had inked the most lucrative kit deal in history with Adidas that brings in £75 million per season, however the new deal with Nike is going to push Barcelona in a different league as they are all set to rake in £120 million per year when the new deal kicks in. There is absolutely no doubt that the eye watering deal will further enhance Barcelona's clout in the transfer and help the club in covering the costs of renovating their stadium, the Camp Nou.
Barcelona published a statement which informed about the deal,"FC Barcelona and NIKE, Inc. have extended their current sponsorship deal, which was due to end on 30 June 2018.The long-term agreement is a landmark in global football and builds upon a highly successful partnership. The details of the agreement will be reported and will have to be ratified at the next Club General Assembly." Following this deal, Barcelona would find on difficulty in giving their Brazilian striker Neymar, who happens to be a Nike sponsored athlete, the new bumper deal that he has been negotiating all this while and in addition to that, the £325 million renovation of the Camp Nou would also be taken care of in the long term.
Barcelona president Josep Bartomeu. said, "Through this new agreement with Nike we are extending a strategic alliance for the club, while also reinforcing our global position, hand in hand with the leading global sports brand. We are excited by this new agreement and are confident that we'll be able to celebrate continued sporting successes together."
