NBA Trade Rumors: Timberwolves Trading Ricky Rubio

The Minnesota Timberwolves appears to be in full throttle as the team enters the offseason with hope riddled with uncertainty over its future. One of its dilemma is deciding the fate of Ricky Rubio as Tom Thibodeau plans on rebuilding the team as an effective conference contender.

Although Rubio is a promising Roster, he is in danger of coming off as a casualty in Thibodeau's revamp this offseason. As a pass-first point guard, the 25-yeard-old Spaniard is adept at offering a good defense but his weakness lies with shooting. This season, the Minnesota point guard averaged 10.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, 8.7 assists, and 2.1 steals per game. However, his inconsistent shooting skills never sit well with Timberwolves' new head coach.

Recent NBA rumors flying across the rumorland suggest that the franchise is trying to trade Rubio before the season's deadline. Minnesota is reportedly trying to ink a deal with Milwaukee which would possibly lead to trading Rubio for Khris Middleton but the Bucks remained tight-lipped over the rumor as per Fansided report.

If Rubio were to remain in the roster for the next season and avoid bloodbath following Thibodeau's restructuring plans, he should convince the team's top brass that he'll be an essential part of the franchise's rise in the NBA ladder. Timberwolves may well invest in building a strong lineup that can possibly revolve around Karl-Anthony Towns, Andrew Wiggins, Zach LaVine and the team's 2016 first-round draft pick.

Despite the rumors, the Minnesota point guard remains dismissive of any possible trade this offseason.

"We have a great future. We're a young team that has high expectations. But there have been young teams in this organization that has not made it. We have the pieces to be in the playoffs," said Rubio as quoted by Sports Rageous.

Meanwhile, other roundups suggest that several teams are keen on trading their one of their own for Ricky Rubio. As per Inquisitr update, New York Knicks is reportedly interested in getting a reasonable trade agreement with Minnesota Timberwolves. Unfortunately, the New York-based franchise doesn't have enough dough to get Minnesota's attention. Chicago Bulls is another interested team which might decide on giving away Jimmy Butler for Rubio- a tempting pitch that Thibodeau may strongly agree on.
