Final Fantasy XV is giving away Chocobo-themed giveaways to lucky followers of its official Japanese Twitter account @FFXVJP.

To rack up more Twitter followers, particularly to their domestic Japanese market, and drumbeat its September 2016 worldwide release, Final Fantasy XV developer Square Enix announced on its website the Chocobo-themed Twitter contest wherein after the account reaches a certain number of followers, prizes will be unlocked and given away to followers via a lottery

Silicon Era reports that the first physical prizes released are T-shirts and stationary sets. Their shipping is, however, limited to addresses within Japan. But Final Fantasy XV Twitter followers elsewhere, at least those who can read Japanese script or have the patience for auto-translation, may still win digital prizes such as Chocobo-inspired icons and wallpapers for desktop and smartphones.

The next set of physical prizes, autographed illustrations, should have already been unlocked at the moment, as the Final Fantasy XV Japanese Twitter account, as of press time, has already exceeded 50,000 followers.

The release on September 30, 2016 of Final Fantasy XV for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, whose development was first announced in 2006, is a ten-year wait that is much anticipated by the franchise fans and the gaming world.

In an interview with the Weekly Famitsu, Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata revealed that he, too, is excited to celebrate its launch with the fans.

"FFXV is a challenger preparing to take on the world. I don't know how best to put it, but I'm hoping to celebrate the launch of the game together with the fans. To make Final Fantasy great again with FFXV, and to enjoy this event with everyone," he said.

The Final Fantasy XV storyline revolves around Noctis, the Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Lucis, as he, together with his three best friends, takes on an epic journey to save his homeland occupied by the imperial army. The flightless avian Chocobos are an important alternative mode of transportation recurring in the Final Fantasy series, and will figure in the upcoming Final Fantasy installment as seen in demos and teaser media.

The Final Fantasy XV English Twitter account @FFXVEN and its synced Facebook account are yet to announce if they will hold a similar contest for their followers.
