Feinstein, senior developer for Rockstar games, said in an interview that RDR 2 is indeed in process. However, he didn't reveal too much about he game in terms of its release date, spoilers or any other game news.

But a Reddit user, AnonDN1978, just recently disclosed that Rockstar has been working on the second installment of this game for quite some time now. He also shared crucial game information, such as, John Marston is not returning in this installment of the series. He also disclosed that the game is set 12 years before the first Red Dead Redemption.

The game's main characters will be Seth and Irish with an addition of one customizable character. As the name suggests, Irish was raised in Ireland and he comes to America on his 21st birthday. Whereas, Seth comes from Kansas City and is working in a bank but now wants to treasure of his own. The main idea of the game is that the two will start looking for hidden treasure after they meet in Texas.

The third character, your creation, will be usable in the gang mode. Yes, RDR 2 will feature multiplayer game mode. This player will be used as a hired gun.

According to the insider news, this game has been in development stage for the last 3 ½ years. Hence it will be no surprise if Rockstar unveiling happens sometime this year. However, the speculation points to an October release.

Strauss Zelnick, Rockstar CEO, just recently revealed that they only release one franchise every year. "We've launched one new successful franchise every year and I would like to keep doing that particularly because I talk about permanent franchises, but not everything is going to be a permanent franchise."

He added, "I pretty much know the ones that I can assure you are permanent. It's obvious that 'GTA' is a permanent franchise as long as we keep delivering this incredible quality; it seems quite obvious that 'Red Dead' is a permanent franchise, again with the same caveat, or 'Borderlands,' for example, and 'NBA' and others."
