So far, Schumacher family is not disclosing anything about the former F1 champion's health and his recovery. However, according to a neurosurgeon privy of Schumacher's condition says that he needs a miracle to recover fully from his injuries.
Schumacher met with a ski accident in 2013 December while skiing in French Alps. An insider revealed that since then, he has been immobile. He can't even speak and has a team of 15 medical professionals working round the clock to nurse him back to health in his Swiss mansion.
There is very little said or written about Schumacher because of media blackout But his manager, Sabine Kehm, recently announced that Schumacher is making gradual progress in his rehab.
She said in an interview, "We are happy to say still he does improvement and I say this always considering the severeness of the injury he had. But of course it will take a very long time for everybody involved to fight, and we are happy to take this fight."
In another interview, Sabine also said that we "must always keep the seriousness of his injuries in mind".
An insider also disclosed that Michael is in a vegetative state as he is unable to talk, with little awareness of his surroundings. "Progress is painfully slow. There is no miracle on the horizon."
Some medical professionals also believe that Schumacher may never be able to recover completely, including Dr. Peter Hamlyn, consultant and neurological and spinal surgeon. He said, "If you look at severe head injury victims who go on to make a good recovery - and I'm not saying all do - it will always be a story of years. The first months are dominated by questions of survival. Gradually as the weeks and months go by those questions of survival turn into questions of the quality of survival."
