Houston Rockets 2016 Rumors: Team Faces 'Butt Pass' Jokes This Season
It was a one-of-a-kind inbound pass, a historic moment by some standards but a totally hilarious creative idea by Houston Rockets guard Andrew Goudelock which would probably qualify him as one of the quickest thinker on NBA hardcourt.
Last Friday, Goudelock needed to inbound the ball after Phoenix Suns made a shot to the basket. However, there was no one available for the inbound pass as he jogged back down the court on offensive mode. Luckily, Josh Smith was there to receive the ball. But the Smith was trying to collect himself after being painfully poked in the eye during the game.
Nevertheless, Goudelock devised an unconventional inbound pass that he is now known for. As reported by Mashable, Goudelock bounce-pass the ball to Smith's butt, hence, the now famous 'butt pass'. He did so with grace and acted as if it was pretty normal on the court.
Goudelock joined the league after being drafted by Lakers five years ago and even played a season in the so-called D League that sent him off overseas in countries like China, Russia, and Turkey. Then just a few weeks ago, he was called back in to NBA to join Houston's roster later in the season as reported by Charleston City Paper.
The Rockets is going through a bitter 2015-16 campaign that could potentially kicked them off the playoffs after an earlier loss to the Lakers. The team's recent 124-15 home loss to the Suns puts them just behind Utah Jazz which is also a candidate for elimination from the playoffs by the Golden State Warriors as reported by Fox Sports. With that mind, the 'butt pass' seems to be a perfect metaphor for the team's current struggles.
Meanwhile, the Golden Warriors' 112-101 win over strong West Conference contender San Antonio Spurs last Thursday night marked the Golden State's 70th win just behind 1995-96 Chicago Bulls NBA record.
