'The Flash' Season 2, Episode 17 Recap and Review: Barry Travels to Past, Wins Despite Bad Decisions
The seventeenth episode of "The Flash" was full of power-packed entertainment and saw major events, unfurling with the usual thrilling sequences.
Barry travels back to the past in a bid to better his present as well as speed. Since Eobard Thawne is dead, he is left with no other alternative but to take this risk. Still, the hero has his limitations as the idea of manipulating himself and traveling back is entirely alien to him.
And doom is impending in the form of the Time Wraith that follows anyone who travels through time without knowing what they are doing. So, the deadly force passes by Barry. More trouble lies ahead as Thawne finds out about Barry's real self and his plans.
He confronts him, gets him handcuffed and is about to kill him when he is stopped by Barry, who tells him that his future plan would fail if he kills him as he has given a hidden letter to his past self. So, Thawne becomes an ally and is ready to help his enemy.
Meanwhile, Time Wraith is set to wreak havoc. Though Barry tried his best to refrain from altering time, his actions undid his resolve. He played it cool at the Labs but could not stop himself from helping Cisco.
So, to save Barry, Flash team takes recourse to Pied Piper, who was locked away at STAR Labs as punishment for his deeds. Only he can stop Time Wraith and he agrees, turning into a good guy. Flash tricks Time Wraith into following him to the present and thus, Piper gets the time to develop a weapon to destroy the deadly force.
The episode's highlights were Barry's messing with time and still being able to turn the tables on the villains. Nonetheless, more twists are in the offing. As of now, it seems Thawne is defeated, but there are still doubts about his escape. Barry is unable to comprehend because he is not there to experience it as he has come back in time.
