Singer Adele News Update: She Loves Her Beard Called Larry

So some people get beards, some bear it proudly and others take it ill. But on stage at a Saturday, March 26 concert in Glasgow, Scotland, Adele shaved off a hairy secret.

"When I got pregnant I had so much testosterone in me that I grew a beard," the "Hello" songstress, 27, said, gleefully.

Her son, Angelo, whose father is Simon Konecki, is now 3 years old after last October. But she still has a beard, she said as per usmagazine

"I only cropped it last night. It's actually true. I'm not telling a joke," the Grammy Award-winner continued. "I actually have a beard, but I'm proud of it. I call it Larry."

Now Larry may sound dreary for some women. But Dr. Jessica Weiser of the New York Dermatology Group  puts out the hair-rising nightmares of women with the assurance that beards and facial fuzz are not all that uncommon for pregnant women.

It is not due to high testosterone levels, though.

"There is no scientific explanation for it. Some believe that the hair becomes more coarse and darker as a result," Weiser, a board-certified dermatologist, said. "Pregnancy is known to shift the hair cycle so that more hair follicles are in a growing phase and less hair is resting and shedding resulting in temporary thickening of hair in the head. "

Some hair can be fuzzy while some can be peachy. Some of it might be "significantly dark and coarse." You might see hair springing up on the abdomen, back and breasts too.

Women, of course, tend to shave, tweeze, wax, thread and pull. However, it is not too safe to go in for laser treatment, electrolysis, hair bleach and depilatory creams, as their security has not been recorded effectively.

"If you can ride it out, the hair "will shed or, at least, lighten after delivery once hormones normalize," Weiser says. Still, it can persist too, just like Adele's Larry has hung on.

You can then go for laser treatment, she says. "The laser will destroy hairs in their follicles without causing ingrown hairs, or blemishes, and significantly diminishes the risk of hair regrowth."
