After coming out with the hugely successful mini-series 11.22.63, Hulu is back again with a drama that revolves around Meyerism, a cult-like movement and the crisis of faith a follower suffers from.

Starring Aaron Paul and Michelle Monaghan in the lead roles, the story is based on the struggles of the couple Eddie and Sarah who are facing hard times in their marriage. A follower of Meyerism, Eddie begins experiencing doubts about the faith while the cult's founder Dr. Steven Meyers is away.

Created by playwright Jessica Goldberg, along with Katims and Michelle Lee, the tagline of the hour-long show says "To belong, you must believe", completely in sync with the intense cult movement which preaches the healing power of faith and its ability to bring closure from pain.

As per reports, Goldberg has revealed that she created this fictional religion as it allowed her to do the kind of storytelling she wanted which was not possible with existing religions. Rubbishing claims that it is inspired from Scientology, the producer said that the internet is full of misinformation.

She cleared the air on the speculations and said that they had created this new movement after taking into account the power of religion which is present across the world and how potent it is in alleviating the suffering of people. The show is centered around the universal idea of a quest for a solution when one finds oneself in deep pain.

Before starting the shooting, the cast was given a complete guide of the fictional faith and they had to do a good deal of research before playing out their characters. They also practiced some mantras behind the scenes which included the idea of "unburdening". Talking about this cleansing act in detail, she said that the cast unburdened on the set. They would use the unburdening mantra to get rid of their problems and mental blocks.

The show premiers on 30 March, 2016.
