Europe Can Do Better With Aiding Mediterranean Humanitarian Crisis, UN General Secretary Ban Ki-moon

The Irish government had decided to depart naval vessels to assist the humanitarian crisis in the Mediterranean region.

With a number of helpless migrants in the Mediterranean region, the Irish government has extended their help to the former.

UN General Secretary has called for a more collective and a comprehensive approach to handle the crisis.

UN General Secretary Mr. Ban Ki-moon said, "I'm urging the European leaders to address this issue in a more comprehensive way and collective way".

Further, he said, "We have to first of all do our best to save lives, for the migrants do not have any means to protect their lives".

Mr. Ban Ki-moon also joined Development Minister Sean Sherlock to launch the UN Youth Delegate Programme for Ireland.
