Google's Android M Will Focus On Battery Life And RAM Usage

Google will be focusing on battery and RAM usage in the Android M, the upcoming Android OS, which might be unveiled tomorrow at the Google I/O 2015 annual developer's conference, according to a new report.

The final version of Android M will be released in August and will get a name by October alongside the release of the next Nexus devices, NDTV Gadgets reported.

According to a report from Android Police, Google is emphasizing on battery performance as well as working to cut down RAM usage. The reported claimed that Google has asked its teams to focus on battery and RAM usage while has even suggested cutting location checking when not necessary and reduce activity when off the charger.

Internally, Android M is being called Macadamia Nut Cookie or MNC, which is going to change before the consumer rollout - like how Lemon Meringue Pie (LMP) became Lollipop.

Apart from a next Android operating system, at the conference Google is expected to unveil features like fingerprint authentication; more granular control over Android app permissions; new Voice Access and Nearby features; Android Pay; expanded Ok Google voice search, and a new Chromecast.

It might also unveil a new standalone Photos App, screenshots of which leaked earlier.
