Miami Heat Rumors: Dwyane Wade Looking to Opt out of Contract?

Dwyane Wade might be looking to opt out of his contract, the latest rumors claim.

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reported that even thought he thinks Wade would want to finish his career in Miami, Wade and his agent have not outwardly stated that Wade will opt in next season.

Jackson wrote, "Because Wade said last year that he's eager to see how much he can command next summer, when the salary cap rises considerably, everyone has expected he would not opt out of a contract that would pay him $16.1 million next season. Opting in seems to make the most sense. But it's curious that Wade was non-committal after the season ended, and his agent this week declined to say if he will opt in."

If, for some reason, Wade decides to opt out, he will become a free agent this summer and the Heat would be expected to offer him a multiyear contract, which would end up hurting the team. Jackson wrote stated that offering Wade a contract this offseason would hurt the team's salary cap space and force them to make trades.

If Wade opts out, the Heat might have to trade Mario Chalmers ($4.3 million left on his expiring contract) or Josh McRoberts ($17 million, three-year contract). They are expected to resign Goran Dragic to a massive contract. Luol Deng, who is expected to opt in, will make $10.1 million next season.

Meanwhile, Heat fans can expect Chris Bosh to be ready next season.

The power forward said, "Yes, I will be ready on Opening Night. I'm looking forward to being the best version of myself in 2015-2016 at the start. I'm very excited, this has given me time to think and reflect on my life and everything that's going on. I miss basketball right now and I think that's good for me."
