Increasing Number of People Using Facebook On Mobile Devices
More number of people are checking Facebook on their mobile phones and devices, the company reported on Wednesday.
The social giant is also making progress in video arena, with users already watching four billion videos a day, an average of four per person.
"More than any other company right now, they are the single biggest beneficiary of this shift to video and mobile," said Mark Mahaney, an Internet analyst with RBC Capital Markets. "This growth is going to be more sustainable than people realize."
Speaking at a conference call with investors to discuss the financial results, Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook's co-founder and chief executive, made it clear that he had no interest in flooding users of Facebook and Instagram with more commercial messages - just better ones, NYT reported.
"The primary goal is to increase the quality. That's our strategy for growing the business," Zuckerberg said.
Reportedly, number of active monthly Facebook users visiting *away* from computers rose to 87% during the first quarter of 2015, up from 24 percent from last year.
The social media company's revenue for the first three months of the year was a little over $3.5 billion, 42 percent up from a year ago.
