[New Launch] Ricoh Launches Pentax K-3 II SLR With High-Resolution Capture Mode and In-built GPS
Ricoh has launched a new APS-C K-mount SLR that features a high-resolution capture mode and an integrated GPS.
Dubbed Pentax K-3 II, the new SLR also offers improved shake reduction.
K-3 II seems similar in design to the original K-3. It uses the same 24-megapixel image sensor, powered by a PRIME III image processor that supports shooting at up to ISO 51200. The 27-point autofocus system has been improved, and the rear 3.2-inch 1,030k-dot LCD is identical to the one used on the K-3.
Another new feature that the company is touting about the camera is Pixel Shift Resolution System. It works similarly to the Olympus E-M5 Mark II in that it shifts the image sensor by one pixel, rattles off four quick shots, and then combines the images into one file in-camera.
Another welcome addition is the in-camera GPS which doubles as a Astrotracer module - moving the image sensor during long nighttime exposures to compensate for the rotation of the Earth.
The K-3 II will go on sale in mid-May and the body-only configuration in the US will set you back at $1,099.95.
