The official Insurgent trailer has officially been released this week allowing fans of the Divergent series to take a sneak peek of the Veronica Roth's young adult sci-fi novel and her portrayal of a dystopian future.

"It is a young adult novel, but the movies reach an audience that's far beyond just the young adult demographic. I think that there's an essence of something that's more mature, which I think compliments the themes in the books really well, Shailene Woodley who played the movie's heroine, Beatris 'Tris' Prior said in an interview with Today Show as reported by E! Online.

According to Bustle, Insurgent is said to start where the first Divergent movie left off with Tris in her self-discovery phase where she finds herself possessing other characteristics that set her apart from the factions.

Also, in the new sequel, Tris and Four (Theo James) star-crossed lovers in the series who are both divergents went astray to find other allies who will help them with the uprising against the Erudite leader Jeanine (Kate Winslet).

An action-packed trailer can be seen with Tris continuing her 'bad-ass' character as she does amazing stunts such as jumping off buildings, crashing through glass among others.

"You are living proof that the Divergent problem has grown beyond all control," her brother Caleb (Ansel Elgort) said in the last part.

One can also see that Tris has cut cropped her hair ala Hazel Grace Lancaster in the The Fault In Our Stars.

Times said that it is really Tris' real hair and not some wig. This is confirmed in an interview last year.

"I didn't want to wear a wig. I think wigs always look wiggy, especially in an action movie. We're running so much and doing so much, I think, technically, a wig would have looked quite sh-tty," she said during the interview.

Times also shared another reason of the actress' pixie cut with her saying, "I wanted something different."

Insurgent also stars Octavia Spencer, Suki Waterhouse, Jonny Weston, Naomi Watts, Rosa Salazar and Keiynan Lonsdale. It is directed by Robert Schwentke and is to hit theaters on March 20.
