Vanilla Ice arrested for burglary and grand theft
Rapper Vanilla Ice has been released from jail on a bond after he was arrested and charged with burglary of a residence and grand theft.
Vanilla Ice, whose real name is Robert Van Winkle, was arrested and charged with home burglary for allegedly stealing furniture, a pool heater and other items from a home in Lantana, Florida. The house was adjacent to where he was renovating a home for his reality show "The Vanilla Ice Project," according to People magazine.
Authorities believe he stole furniture, a pool heater, bicycles and other items. Some of the missing items were allegedly found in the house which he is renovating for DIY's reality show.
As Vanilla Ice was released from jail, he downplayed the charges.
"It's a misunderstanding. It was blown out of proportion," the former rapper, 47 - whose real name is Robert Van Winkle - told reporters outside the Palm Beach County Jail, according to NBC 6 South Florida.
"It's sad that good news doesn't travel this fast," he added. "It's just out of proportion, and I wish you guys would focus on all the good things I've done ... It'll all get cleared up, you'll see."
The former pop star, who rose to fame with the 1990s hit Ice Ice Baby, was released from the Palm Beach County Jail on a $6,000 bond.
