Phoenix Suns Trade Rumors: Goran Dragic will not Resign
Goran Dragic could be sporting a different uniform soon.
According to several reports, Dragic's agent informed the Phoenix Suns that Dragic does not plan on resigning when he becomes a free agent at the end of the season and would like to get traded.
Dragic reportedly has a list of teams that he would prefer to go. Some of the teams include the Miami Heat, Los Angeles Lakers and the New York Knicks. The Houston Rockets, who have expressed their interest in getting Dragic back, were not on the list.
Sources believe that the Suns will try to honor Dragic's trade request.
With only one day left before the trade deadline, the Suns would need to move fast. ESPN's Marc Stein reported that the Boston Celtics could be the unexpected top contender. Stein pointed out that the Boston president Danny Ainge and Phoenix general manager Ryan McDonough have a good working relationship and could agree on a deal soon.
Other teams that are interested in Dragic include the Lakers, Knicks, Heat, Rockets, Celtics and Sacramento Kings. If no trade is dealt, Dragic will most likely decline his $7.5 million player option for next season. He is making $7.5 million this season. The Lakers are rumored to be willing to offer him a max contract estimated to be around $80 million in July. The Knicks would also be willing to offer a long-term deal.
Dragic, 28, averages 16.2 points and 4.1 assists in 33.2 minutes. He had a great 2013-14 season when he played a greater role. He finished that season averaging 20.3 points, 5.9 assists and 3.2 rebounds in 35.1 minutes.
