Android 5.0 Lollipop has lower crash rate compared to iOS 8 and Android KitKat, according to a new study. The study noted that the older version of Android and iOS 7.1 had lower crash rates.

iOS 8 experiences 0.2 percent more crash rates than Android Lollipop.

Apple's iOS 8 was noted to have an average crash rate of 2.18 percent and iOS 7 with 2.02 percent whereas Android Lollipop witnessed crash rate of 2.15 percent. Among these the worse was KitKat that faced crash rate of 2.76 percent.

The study considered more than 20,000 apps on both platforms to determine the crash rates.

The study underscored that overall iOS had a lower crash rate compared to Android.

Though the report studies app stability, it also depends on the nature of usage, RAM and the internal storage in the device. Users are likely to face more crashes in older devices, though both the companies provide updates to fix the bugs. The report is based on third-party apps and does not explore pre-installed software for glitches, TheNextDigit noted.

In terms of most stable versions, Android Lollipop and iOS 7.1 took the award.

It is rumored that the next version of iOS, iOS 9, will focus solely on stability and feature improvement.
