Starbucks To Introduce ‘Express Stores,’ ‘Tasting Rooms’ and ‘Roastery’ Style Stores
Starbucks Corp, the famous coffee house giant, announced Friday that it would launch three new kinds of stores to boost sales of the company.
Starbucks said that it will introduce more than 100 "bite-sized" express stores with reduced menus and will also open a "Tasting Room" and "Roastery" - new interactive kinds of boutique stores that will promote coffee education and help boost its home-grown coffee.
"Everything we have created and learned about coffee has led us to this moment. The Starbucks Reserve Roastery and Tasting room is a multi-sensory experience that will transform the future of specialty coffee," Howard Schultz, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Starbucks said in a statement.
"We plan to take this super premium experience to cities around the world, elevating the Starbucks experience not only through these stores but across our entire business."
For now the tasting room and Roastery is opening in Seattle. Through the stores, Starbucks hopes to double its coffee roasting capacity and increase its Reserve Coffee presence from 800 to 1,500 stores by 2015, worldwide. The express stores are slated to open within the next five years.
"The evolution of our store experience is a direct reflection of how our customers are interested in both accessibility to the brand as well as speed and convenience. Our scale affords us the unique opportunity to bring a flexible portfolio of options rooted in our core commitment to coffee quality," Cliff Burrows, group president, U.S., Americas, and Teavana added in the statement.
News of the store introductions comes two months after Starbucks raised prices of most of its drinks and packaged coffee by 5 to 20 cents and $1 respectively.
The company also reported a five percent profit in its individual stores for the 18th straight quarter in July.
Shares of Starbucks were up 0.48 percent before opening trade, Friday.
