Facebook And Twitter Post Record Numbers Around Super Bowl Conversations
Facebook and Twitter saw record number of reactions to last night's Super Bowl, according to reports.
Facebook said, more than 65 million users participated in the conversation around Super Bowl on its site, compared to 50 million users last year. In total Facebook users shared 265 million posts, comments and likes.
According to Facebook, top social moment was winning New England Patriots Super Bowl XLIX which engaged 1.36 million people per minute. Katy Perry's "Firework" finale at halftime managed to engage 1.02 million people-per-minute.
In New Hampshire and Rhode Island the level of conversation on Facebook was highest while US and Canada were most active countries.
Twitter saw 28.4 million tweets related to Super Bowl compared to last year's 24.9 million tweets. However this did not break record for most tweets ever (for comparison's sake, the World Cup's finale saw 32.1 million tweets).
Twitter also revealed the moments in the recent Superbowl that generated the biggest peaks in conversation during the live telecast.
1. Malcolm Butler (@Mac_BZ) intercepts a pass by Russell Wilson (@DangeRussWilson) 1 yard from the goal line with 20 seconds left in the game: 395,000 Tweets Per Minute (TPM)
2. @Patriots defeat @Seahawks to become #SB49 champions: 379,000 TPM
3. End of @KatyPerry's halftime performance: 284,000 TPM
Other than Facebook and Twitter, YouTube also reported that more people than ever before watched ads and teaser videos on its site.
"People watched more game-day ads and teaser videos on YouTube than ever before," wrote YouTube on its official blog.
