Kendrick Lamar Album Update: Spotted in Studio with Snoop Dogg
Fans are finally getting another clue about the kind of tracks that might be on Kendrick Lamar's latest album.
Based on an Instagram post by Snoop Dogg, who is extremely active on this social media platform, it appears that the two rappers might be working together in the studio. The picture is accompanied by the caption, "Work.!! K. Dot."
Although it looks like Snoop and Lamar are collaborating on new music, there is no news on whether or not the song will be featured on Lamar's album as opposed to Snoop's upcoming album, Bush, which is being produced by Pharrell Williams.
"It's a great record me and Pharrell did from top to bottom. It feels good and I'm happy to be back in the studio working with one of my favorite producers and homeboys," Snoop told MTV News last year. "It's different -- it's completely different than anything we've ever done. It feels good, sounds good, looks good."
So far, Lamar's 2015 album has no release date, no album title and no album cover. All fans know is that Lamar reportedly worked with musicians, such as Pharrell, Dr. Dre and George Clinton.
Aside from the rumored collaborations, the 27-year-old and his label, Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) have been very good at keeping the album a mystery to all of his fans. Lamar has remained tightlipped about the content of his album and has only talked about his love for creating music.
"My enjoyment is creating the music. Once it gets pressed up, with bar codes on it, then it's not really fun anymore," Lamar said in his Billboard cover story. He added, "It's a good album. That what I can tell you."
Late last month, a Walmart store accidentally listed Lamar's album release date as January 27. However, before fans could flock to the stores, TDE stated that the store made a mistake because Lamar's album was not coming out on that date. Indeed, the day came and passed with no album.
If fans want a taste of Lamar's new music, they might have to attend a few music festivals. The rapper will reportedly perform at certain musical festivals over the next couple of months to promote his music.
Lamar will co-headline one day of the Wireless Festival with Avicii in the United Kingdom. Drake will open up the festivities on July 3 and Nicki Minaj will close it out with David Guetta on July 5. Other performers will include Childish Gambino, Logic, Joey Bada$$, G-Eazy, ILoveMakonnen, August Alsina and Grandmaster Flash.
