Outlook For iOS And Android Is Here
Microsoft is launching Outlook for iOS and Android phones and tablets. It had acquired an email startup Acompli last year. The new Outlook app, which almost looks identical to Acompli, is available for free in the respective stores.
"We have been and we'll continue to update the app weekly," said Julia White, Microsoft's general manager of Office. "So in a very short period time you'll start to see variance from the Acompli app that will not be updated after that point."
Microsoft is planning to replace old range of Outlook branded apps with the newly launched app. Though the older apps will be available for time being, the company has talked about merging the experience into one app.
Microsoft is also keeping the app's integration with Google Drive and Dropbox. The new Outlook app will also support Office 365, Exchange, outlook.com, Yahoo! Mail, Gmail and various other email providers.
The new Outlook app also allows you to send attachments through many cloud services, including Microsoft's own OneDrive, as well as Dropbox and others.
One of the most important feature that new app has the ability to swipe and archive/delete mails. You can also customize the gestures according to your need. The app also allows users to schedule a time for reading and replying emails.
