Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt Tie the Knot in France
Angelina Jolie, the "Tomb Raider" actress and Brad Pitt, the "Troy" star finally tied the knot last Saturday in France, according to the couple's spokesperson.
Jolie and Pitt said their vows in Chateau Miraval, located in the French village of Correns. The ceremony was an intimate one with friends and family. The Associated Press is reporting that all their six children were involved in the nuptials.
Jolie reportedly walked down the aisle with oldest son Maddox, 13 and Pax, 10. Daughters Zahara and Vivienne threw petals while the six-year-old twins Shiloh and Knox were the ring bearers. The California judge who granted the couple their marriage license officiated their wedding.
Jolie and Pitt have been together for nine years and got engaged two years ago. Their wedding was highly anticipated by everyone and this surprise ceremony is surely big news for fans.
Soon after they were engaged Jolie said that they would get married if their children asked. And apparently they did.
"We're getting a lot of pressure from the kids," Jolie told CBS News in a previous interview. "Yeah, it means something to them, and they're, you know, they have questions when their friends' parents are married and, why is that?"
Brad Pitt also said earlier that he wouldn't get married until gay marriage was legalized. Of late, the couple had been busy with work. Jolie was finishing up "Maleficent" and "Unbroken" - her second directorial. Even Pitt was busy wrapping up "World War Z" and "12 years a Slave." Also, with Jolie's mastectomy news, a wedding wasn't really expected.
The busy stars, however, found time to cement their relationship. According to the Daily Mail, the whole Brangelina brood was spotted in France Friday but there was no hint of a wedding at all.
This is the second marriage for Pitt and the third for Jolie. Pitt was married to Jennifer Aniston for five years. They divorced in 2005.
On the other hand, Jolie was married to British actor Johnny Lee Miller for three years in the 90s'. At their wedding Jolie wore a white t-shirt with Miller's name written in her own blood on it. Even in her second marriage with actor Billy Bob Thornton, the two wore vials of eath other's blood around their neck!
However, this time, there was no blood, whatsoever and this one's probably meant to last.
Jolie and Pitt met on the sets of their film "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" and fell in love almost instantly. Their's was a fairy-tale like love story but like all real-life couples, they had to face difficulties too. But they made it through all the years .
While filming apart in different countries, they wrote letters to each other.
"He was supportive from a distance, and it was quite romantic in a way," Jolie told People Magazine.
"We decided to be of that time, when we could imagine he was in the European theater and I was in the Pacific theater, and we wrote handwritten letters to each other that were very connecting for us, thinking of the people that were separated for months, if not years, at a time back then," she added.
But no amount of distance can separate this couple, especially as the two are now eternally bonded in holy matrimony.
Pitt and Jolie will soon be co-starring in "By The Sea," their first film since "Mr. & Mrs. Smith."
