Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg will team up for a new film "The Post." The upcoming film is set to focus on the Washington Post publication about the 1971 Pentagon papers.

According to a report, Spielberg will be the one to direct "The Post" while Hanks and Streep will star in it. It is reported that the film is about the exposure of the Pentagon papers in 1971 by the Washington Post's publication.

"The Post" will also tackle on how the Washington Post's Editor Ben Bradlee and publisher Kay Graham went into challenging the federal government in publishing the papers. The Pentagon papers were about the records of the Vietnam War that was commissioned by the Defense Department.

These papers were also unreported facts about the secret escalation of troops during the war. The war has been said to be one that cannot be won. "The Post" will star Hanks as Bradlee and Streep as Graham. It is to be directed by Spielberg.

A report indicated that "The Post" is the fifth film that will be collaborated by Hanks and Spielberg. They already worked together in "Saving Private Ryan," "Catch Me If You Can," "The Terminal" and "Bridge of Spies."

Streep on the other hand previously worked with Spielberg on "AI" where she voiced the Blue Fairy. She also is narrating Spielberg's Netflix documentary series "Five Came Back." The Post is not the first time that Streep will be working with Spielberg.

Meanwhile, "The Post" is reported to be the first film that Bradlee is the main focus. There already was a film that he was mentioned such as the classic film "All the President's Men" in 1976. This time, the new film will explore more on how he fought to publish the Pentagon papers as the editor of The Washington Post.
