Z13 Is The Most Sophisticated And Powerful Computer IBM Ever Built
IBM might have given up some hardware business, but when it comes to mainframes, the company excels. The American multinational technology is introducing z13, the most powerful and sophisticated computer ever built, costing $US 1 billion.
Z13 is a mainframe computer, about the size of an extra-large refrigerator. The computer exploits the innovation of 500 new patents and is capable of processing 2.5 billion transactions a day. It can also deliver a 30 percent performance increase in carrying out some computing jobs.
Z13 hosts capabilities such as real time encryption of mobile transactions and embedded analytics. Noticeably, IBM has distinctly focused on giving mainframes a mobile twist. The new mainframe by IBM will help its clients keep pace with the rapid growth of mobile applications.
Mainframe computers are primarily used by corporate and government organizations for critical applications like bulk data processing and transaction processing.
"The z13 is designed to handle billions of transactions for the mobile economy. Only the IBM mainframe can put the power of the world's most secure datacenters in the palm of your hand," said Tom Rosamilia, senior vice president, IBM Systems.
"Consumers expect fast, easy and secure mobile transactions. The implication for business is the creation of a secure, high performance infrastructure with sophisticated analytics."
