Suicide Squad Game Cancelled; New Batman Game Without Bruce Wayne In The Works
We all know that super villain movie Suicide Squad debuted earlier this year. It seems we were supposed to get video game as well. However, Warner Brothers Games Montreal has already cancelled the Suicide Squad video game in favor of a brand new Batman game, according to Kotaku.
The Suicide Squad video game starring DC universe villains in co-op style play was apparently in development for a span of two years, but it did not impress the management at Warner Bros., the same way the star studded film by Davide Ayer starring Margot Robbie, Will Smith, and Jared Leto about an ensemble of dangerous Belle Reeve prisoners recruited by intelligence officer Amanda Waller in exchange for a time off their long prison sentences, failed to meet blockbuster and critical success in 2016.
Arkham Origins, from Warner Bros. Montreal, ended with a little Suicide Squad wink and nudge. Arkham Origins Blackgate, for Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita, teased Suicide Squad in its ending as well. It was also revealed in a recruitment pop-up from WB Montreal that the studio was working on "two AAA projects in development focused on expanding the DC Comics universe in the interactive space". So, it makes so much sense that the next big DC universe game would center around Suicide Squad. Instead, WB Montreal will be working on a Batman game that will not star Bruce Wayne. We get Damian Wayne, the fifth person to become the vigilante sidekick Robin in the Batman universe and the son of Batman himself and Talia al Ghul, daughter of another Batman villain, Ra's al Ghul.
There are currently no details regarding the new Damian Wayne game aside from rumors floating around that it will have the Nemesis system from Shadow of Mordor. When it comes to villains, it is also rumored that Penguin will be making an appearance.
