'Android Malware' News And Updates: Fake Super Mario Run For Android A Malware? Users Advised Not To Download

It was just a few weeks back news updates confirmed about an Android malware that infected almost 1 million phones. The malware was called Gooligan. Now, more frightening news are coming out including Super Mario Run APK for Android devices is a malware in reality. With the latest information, a new malware named Tordow malware 2.0 is going beyond Android permissions.

By the end of last month, the Gooligan malware was spotted in Android devices. It was reported that the malware was able to access Gmail, Google Photos, Google Play, Google Docs, Google Drive etc., as it is able to steal the authentication tokens for these accounts of the customer from the affected phone. A firmware issue on cheap Android devices was also surfacing last month as the phones from Blu were included a firmware in its OS that steals data to China.

A recent report concluded that many Super Mario Run APKs are also found to be a malware and can steal the information from the accounts it downloaded. The game is only available on iOS now and the Android release date is in 2017, but users who try to get the APK of the same from the internet is ending up with downloading malware and other viruses. It should be noted that there is no official APK made available for Android till date.

The latest being Tordow Malware 2.0 is going beyond the permissions of the ecosystem and steals the data. What makes it more dangerous is that the malware is gaining access to the root and trying to control the device apart from collecting the login details. The malware found by security firm Comodo in Russia is a type that cyber criminals can reverse code of the apps in Google Play and upload it to third-party sites.

Each download of the apps from those sites bring the hidden malware into the devices of each customer. The only remedy that can work out in these cases are not downloading any apps from third party sites or using APK. Considering the increased success of Android platform, the cyber criminals have started attacking the devices based on it as it can be widespread and more destructive. To safeguard from such troubles, try to download from official links and Google Play.
