Niantic Labs Slams Cancellation Rumors of Pokemon GO for Apple Watch
After the release of the December Gen 2 "Pokemon" update, many had speculated that Pokemon Go's Apple Watch will be cancelled.
Recently, developer Niantic Labs has come forward through their official Twitter account. The announcement has stated otherwise, sharing the news that an Apple Watch port for "Pokemon GO" remains in development, as reported by GameSpot.

Many are ware that the Apple Watch is a lot more expensive than regular smartphones and Pokemon Plus tracker, but it seems that Niantic Labs are confident that the availability of "Pokemon GO" in the wearable device will still be a success because of its immense popularity towards the working population. And honestly, most working population in the middle class can afford an Apple Watch and with the shortage of Pokemon Plus, it will be the best alternative to the Niantic device.
The Apple Watch version of Pokemon Go is able to show nearby Pokemon, lets you collect items from PokeStops, shows how many steps you need to walk for your eggs to hatch, and gives XP and fitness data, accodring to Pulse Headlines.
Tech Crunch sought out for information to Niantic Labs to confirm the rumors, to which they stated: "Thanks for checking with us! The image in that Reddit post is not real. Development on Pokémon GO continues, as it has since before the Apple announcement. We'll have more news on the product soon."
Pokemon GO recently reached 500 million downloads on both iOS and Android app stores, letting the developer to become confident of its other upcoming franchise, thus the Pokemon GO plus was created, as reported by Express.co.uk.
Pokemon GO Plus is a wearable device that lets its users play the game without holding a smartphone. Pokemon Go Plus is a wristband that connects to the user's smartphone via Bluetooth and will light up whenever there is a nearby Pokemon to catch. By pressing its button the trainer will collect any nearby item or catch Pokemon in the area.
Pokemon GO Plus currently values at $34.99 and will be compatible with most iPhone models and Android devices that also support Pokemon GO.
