Blizzard first announced that the Overwatch event was coming Dec. 13. Since then, the community has been searching for clues on social media posts or even game's files as to what could change. The name of the Overwatch event is to be Winter Wonderland.

After the update's official launch, Overwatch fans are very disappointed with the Winter Wonderland patch especially with Mei's "Mei-rry" Legendary costume. The update features Christmas Skins where many fans were underwhelmed. Some players, however, think that the issue is not about the costume being not "cool" or "edgy". It's just that Blizzard did not put effort into the costume and that the Overwatch update is just a recolor of Mei's basic skin which is not enough to call it legendary and wasn't worth 3,000 credits.

Ever since Overwatch Winter Wonderland event was launched, players made protest and Blizzard finally decided to explain everything about it on Overwatch forums. The game director was sorry for the classification of the skin as a legendary item, "We don't have a specific rule for what makes something Legendary or Epic." as per the game director Jeff Kaplan. However, he also reassured Overwatch fans, "It's all good feedback and we're learning something for future events."

Basically, the main point of this issue is that Mei gets a slight reanimation on her basic skin and Blizzard made a mistake calling the skin "Legendary". On the game's point of view, Blizzard thought it was cool enough that the Overwatch hristmas Skins added a slight change on effects to one of Mei's most important skills.

Legendary skins always had its characters to drastically change its appearance, and no wonder that fans thought this skin was a disappointment. Fortunately, there's still hope for those players wanting a cool Overwatch hero Mei Legendary skin, as Kaplan told that she will be receiving something "pretty awesome" next year.
