Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered Update Adds Microtransactions Feature, New Maps

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered brings back the classic game to the current generation of consoles and gamers. The new version of the game also added features that weren't present in its previous installment. The latest feature added in the December 13 update of the game is the ability to perform microtransactions.

Microtansactions, crafting, supply drops

Players are now allowed to use real money to purchase supply drops during the game. These supply drops will grant players access to cosmetic items like character skins, reticles, and weapon camo skins. The said items are said to have no impact on the gameplay and are not considered to give players using them any advantage.

All the items that can be obtained via microtransactions can also be unlocked by accomplishing in-game challenges and earning credits. On the other hand, players can also purchase Call of Duty points (the alternate form of currency) using real money. Players can also craft these items through "Salvaging" ---a feature introduced in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.

Melee weapons like shovels and hammers can also be purchased through microtransactions. This recent development validates Gamespot's rumored leak.

New Maps

The latest update now includes all 16 maps from the original installment. Activision announced on their blog the following maps for players to enjoy this holiday season:

Bloc: Large Russian apartment bloc. Intense Domination matches.
Countdown: Open launch pad. Huge sight lines and dangerous maneuvering.
Pipeline: Russian train yard. Excellent team games.
Showdown: Small desert arena. Great fast gameplay for small numbers of players.
Strike: Large urban desert town. Excellent team games.
Wet Work: Medium-large cargo ship. Fast-paced Search and Destroy matches.
Winter Crash: Dark and snowy holiday-themed Crash. Beware the airstrikes...

New modes like Gun Game and Kill Confirmed, both introduced in later games have also been added. Female characters have also been added giving Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered a new and diverse feel in terms of aesthetics.
