Toshiba has launched a high-speed memory card that comes with built-in NFC. These SD cards will enable users to preview content stored on it without even inserting it in the devices or memory card reader.

Toshiba is using TransferJet technology in the memory card. The technology, first developed by Sony in collaboration with Olympus and Toshiba, has been on the market for quite some time. However this might be the first time, it has been used mainstream.

The TransferJet technology, similar to NFC, enables two devices to communicate without a physical connection. Devices using this technology can transfer data at the speed up to 375Mb/s.

The new memory card by Toshiba, is impressive in terms that it can communicate with a smartphone device without it being inserted. All you need to do is install an app by Toshiba and keep the SD card in the proximity.

In the demo, the app was seen showing 16 random thumbnails of images inside the SD card.

The memory card would work with NFC-enabled Android smartphone by simply keeping it around few inches of the smartphone.

While the new tech from Toshiba sounds interesting, it is yet to be released in public and you need to wait for February. The options for NFC-enabled SDHC card includes 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB.
