NY Knicks Set Franchise Record with 13 Straight Losses
The New York Knicks have hit a new low with their 13th straight loss, a franchise record. The Knicks had lost 23 games out of their last 24 and are 5-33.
The Knicks, who had to sit Carmelo Anthony and Amar'e Stoudemire due to injuries, fell to the Washington Wizards 101-91 on Wednesday. The rebuilding team, who has traded away J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert, relied heavily on Jose Calderon, who had 17 points, and gave a lot of minutes to Cole Aldrich, Langston Galloway and Cleanthony Early.
"This franchise has been around long before I was even born, so we can't carry that much weight into a game like tonight," Fisher said prior to the game. "We don't like our record, where it falls in franchise history. I guess it would be a reality possibly depending on how the night goes tonight, but that doesn't have to define us at all. That's what it is, that's what it would be and when things are going well for us, we're setting records the other way, that'll just be a part of this job and we'll keep moving forward."
"It's not easy," Calderon said. "All the things going on, in a season like that, all the changes happening to us - our teammates, they are going and new guys are arriving - and we've got so many injuries as well."
Although the Wizards did not dominate as much as people might have expected, they never looked like they were in jeopardy of losing the game either. Wizards point guard John Wall finished the night with 18 points and eight assists. Nene scored 20 points.
The Knicks will host the Rockets on Thursday.
