NBA Trade Rumors: Memphis Grizzlies Courting Jeff Green and Luol Deng

By Cheri Cheng - 08 Jan '15 15:48PM

The Memphis Grizzlies are looking to improve their standing in the highly competitive Western Conference by adding more scorers to their roster. Several sources are reporting that the 25-10 Grizzlies are interested in Boston's Jeff Green or Miami's Luol Deng.

The sources added, however, that no deal is imminent.

Despite these rumors, there is no news regarding how willing the Heat would be in trading Deng. Deng is currently in his first season with Miami. He signed a two-year death worth $19.9 million. The 29-year-old is averaging 14.3 points in 32.2 minutes. So far, Deng has shown no signs of slowing down. He is also reportedly well-liked throughout the league.

Green, however, has been the subject of trade rumors all season. Sources believe that Green will be with a new team before the trade deadline since he has a player option and can leave Boston as a free agent as soon as the next offseason. Green, 28, averages a career-high 17.6 points with 4.3 rebounds in 33.1 minutes.

Marc Stein with ESPN.com wrote that any trade for Deng or Green will most likely "feature the $7.7 million expiring contract of Tayshaun Prince as well as the promise of future draft compensation."

Teams in the Western conference that have made moves include the Houston Rockets, who added Corey Brewer and Josh Smith, the Dallas Mavericks who acquired Rajon Rondo and the Oklahoma City Thunder, who traded for Dion Waiters.

The trade deadline is Feb 19.
