The developer of Mekazoo has confirmed that the game will be now accessible for PC, Xbox One, PS 4, and Wii U between October and December. "The Good Mood Creators", developers of the new indie game, call the game a throwback 2D platform.
Mekazoo is a game where players control up to five mechanized animals. Available animals are armadillo, frog, panda, wallaby and pelican and each of them has its own unique skills and drawbacks. Creators of the game stated that their goal was to create a free-flowing speedy gameplay, which can be seen in the gameplay trailer itself.
Players will start playing as a tiny armadillo, which can charge up and roll along floors, and at the end of the game, players will have five different animals as companions. There will be 4 main levels in each of the five worlds, each occurring in frozen tundras, colorful jungle, a desert, sci-fi settings and futuristic cityscape. Players will need to complete five tasks to earn gears. Replaying levels is not only recommended but also required since gears are the only option to unlock new levels.
Jarret Slavin, Creative director of the game said that "We are combining all the lessons learned from those masterpieces and the innovative ideas we've spent decades brainstorming to deliver the game we wish existed since we were kids." Mekazoo was based on the infamous games like Super Mario World and Donkey Kong Country. The game also includes a dynamic camera that can change the fly movement of each animal.
Players can only use up to two animals to switch at one time. Players are granted with the right combination of animals to handle the next set of level's challenges. Players can choose the animals of their choice once they finish the game and can go back to previous levels and complete it once again.
According to Mark Naborczyk, marketing director of Good Mood Creators, the armadillo is the strongest of the five mechanical animals, having the ability crash through obstacles while keeping the fastest rate of speed. The game also includes a single-player mode and a cooperative mode. In a single player mode, players can easily switch between two animals anytime they want. While during a cooperative mode, each player needs to handle one character in the pair of animals and at the same time, requires planning and cooperation.
