Red Dead Redemption 2 Release Date, Update: Game Definitely Sees Delay; Chances of Prequel High
There's a lot of anticipation building up over Red Dead Redemption 2. Gamers have been hoping for a Red Dead Redemption sequel ever since the original game was released, and this year, many were eyeing major gaming events like the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) and Gamescom for announcements of the game's development and release. When Rockstar Games finally let the jig up and announced that it was releasing Red Dead Redemption 2 next year, the online community burst out in applause. However, new reports indicate that it may take Rockstar longer than 2017 to release the action-adventure Western videogame.
According to a report by The Fresno Bee, Red Dead Redemption 2 just might see a delayed release. Though excitement is as high as ever, some seem to predict that Rockstar will be taking its sweet time with RDR 2. Given that the videogame developer makes an emphasis on dishing out quality games, it's certain that the game will see a delay. Games with big budgets like RDR 2 almost always often see delay, and Rockstar is one of those studios that would rather push back a release date than roll out a half-baked game.
If the delay does push through, the RDR sequel is expected to come out late 2017 at best, though an early 2018 release is also possible. Despite the anticipated delay, gamers will most likely be glad that RDR 2 comes out late and clean than bug-filled during the Fall of 2017.
Meanwhile, in other Red Dead Redemption 2 news, rumor is spreading that the upcoming Rockstar Western videogame would most likely be a prequel than a sequel to the original RDR. Inquistr reports that RDR 2 would feature an even wilder west with John Marston in a place east of the map of the first game. Evidence that the game would be a sequel is that buffalos are plenty in the new trailer released by Rockstar - back in the original Red Dead Redemption, the buffalos were nearly extinct. Given this, the chances of getting an RDR prequel is very, very high.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is slated for release during the Fall of 2017.
