Alien: Covenant Cast News & Update: James Franco To Portray As Captain Of Starship
Ridley Scott, known for directing science fiction movies such as 'Prometheus' and 'The Martian' and his talent in film aesthetic design, has decided to make another entry, a sequel for 'Prometheus' and prequel for the 'Alien' series, entitled 'Alien: Covenant.' The movie will cast recurring stars, Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace, and Guy Pearce.
From 'Alien' where the story originates, the upcoming movie 'Alien: Covenant' features a colony ship discovering an unexplored dangerous planet with Micheal Fassbender, playing two roles, as and android named Walter and as David, a robot, which was the lone survivor of the ill-fated Prometheus expedition. Another interesting part of the movie is the evolution of proto-aliens from 'Prometheus' to Neomorphs.
In addition to the innuendos released related to the movie, James Franco will be playing a role in the movie as the captain of the starship Covenant. Reports from Movieweb, the AvPGalaxy has stated that "Franco will be appearing in Alien: Covenant as Branson, the captain of the Covenant and husband of Katherine Waterson's Daniels. Franco's appearance in Alien: Covenant will only be brief, though. He appears in the first ten minutes or so of the film with later small appearances. Franco will also be reprising the role as Branson in some of the viral footage that has been shot for Alien: Covenant."
Apart from that, James Franco will be working together again with one of his pals from 'Pineapple Express' and 'This is the End', Danny McBride, who landed a role as the pilot of the ship. Both comedic actors have shared a lot of films and this one is the latest but it is still indefinite if the two will actually share the same screen, according to Den of Geek.
'Alien: Covenant' already has a release date and is said to be on May 19, 2017. The upcoming film also stars Katherine Waterston, Demián Bichir, Jussie Smollett, Amy Seimetz, Carmen Ejogo and Callie Hernandez.
