‘Pokémon GO’ News: What To Expect From Christmas Event; Dec. 8 Release For Legendary Pokémon Teased

Recent reports are claiming that "Pokémon GO" would hold a Christmas event like the one introduced on Halloween. Another leak revealed that new Pokémon would be released this week.

For the "Pokémon GO" Christmas event, players would likely see certain Pokémon spawns in the wild more than usual. Trainers will be able to spot more Clefairy, Clefable, Dewgong, Staryu, Starmee, Seel, and Snorlax spawns, Express listed.

Aside from more Pokémon spawns, there are claims that Niantic would lessen the number of steps "Pokémon GO" players have to travel to hatch Eggs. Trainers are also rumored to receive more bonuses from the Buddy system.

Rumors about a Starbucks-related event were also rampant lately, Heavy reported. A Reddit user claiming to be a Starbucks employee shared an internal memo recently about a new "Pokémon GO" event that would involve the introduction of new monsters or Legendary Pokémon. Check out the memo below.

The memo indicated that "Pokémon GO" and Starbucks are teaming up on a new update that will roll out on Thursday, Dec. 8. In this event, many Starbucks chains will be labeled as PokéStops and "Pokémon GO" players can order a special drink. But perhaps the most notable part of the memo was this: "The world of 'Pokémon GO' is about to expand with NEW Pokémon and a new Starbucks beverage."

Many "Pokémon GO" players believe that the event would introduce the much awaited Generation 2 Pokémon. The "new Pokémon" mentioned by the memo could also refer to the highly coveted Legendary Pokémon: Articuno, Moltres, and Zapdos.

Of course, there's the possibility that the memo is fake. What "Pokémon GO" players can do for now is to wait for two, short days to confirm if the claims are indeed real.

Releasing new Pokémon - especially something so big as the Legendaries - without any pomp at all may be odd, but that's pretty much happened when Ditto was released last month. Players have looked for Ditto since "Pokémon GO" rolled out in July but it just appeared in the wild without preamble. Introducing new monsters without any announcement is a totally expected move for Niantic given that they have already done it with Ditto.

In other news, Niantic recently expanded the game's Nearby feature. The developer is currently releasing the tool to "Pokémon GO" players in the United States and Europe.
