Cavaliers And Warriors Meet Again In The NBA Finals? Lebron James Acknowledged As Sportsman Of The Year
On Thursday, Cleveland Cavaliers star Lebron James acknowledged in sports illustrated and was given the title of 2016 Sportsman of this year in NBA league. LeBron led the Cavaliers to their first NBA championship.
The basketball star has been chosen by Sports Illustrated as the Sportsperson of the Year after leading the Cleveland Cavaliers to an NBA title and ending the city's 52-year championship drought.This is the second time James has been named SI's Sportsman of the Year. The first was in 2012, the year he won his first title with the Miami Heat and followed it up with a gold medal with Team USA in London.
He leads the Miami Heat to four consecutive playoffs in NBA finals and later on went back to his hometown which is the cavaliers and won his third NBA league title. As the 31-year-old all-star player has made his come back into his old team, Cleveland Cavaliers 3-1 deficit against the Warriors has raised up the city of Cleveland from its first crucial sports championship since 1964.
Until now, he is still being expected to enter the Cleveland into the playoffs. Cavaliers forward LeBron James said, "it would be selfish of me and foolish of me to think about playing the Golden State Warriors in another final."
Meanwhile, the face of NBA, James, is not just about basketball. He always had a heart for charities. LeBron James Family Foundation had recently announced a $2.5 million contribution to the Muhammad Ali show as a proof his support towards the new Smithsonian Museum of African American History and Culture.
The exhibit honors Ali's inheritance in athletics, activism and beyond. James has also united with the University of Akron to provide a four-year scholarship to qualifying children in the Akron I PROMISE Network program. Presently, more than 1,100 students were enrolled which equivalent to more than $41 million in support.
