It seems that Alaric (Matt Davis) and Caroline (Candice King) are coming over to New Orleans to meet up with the Mikaelsons. Nina Dobrev is also rumored to appear in the upcoming season as a doppelganger.
"The Originals" Season 4 is set to air next year. In fact, the air date has already been moved at a later part of the year. It was first reported to air in January 2017. Lately, it has just been announced that the upcoming season in the series is moved to March 2017.
It is speculated that the ones who survive in the season finale of The Vampire Diaries are going to do a crossover to "The Originals" Season 4. It is likely that the latter will have more seasons to come right after this upcoming one.
There are reports that Caroline is going to move to New Orleans and help Klaus Mikaelson (Joseph Morgan) in "The Originals" Season 4. It can be recalled that Klaus was under a curse from the Tunde Blade from the previous season.
Alaric is also rumored to make an appearance in "The Originals" Season 4. It is hinted that he will deliver a very important artifact to Elijah (Daniel Gillies) in the upcoming season. Dobrev, on the other hand, is rumored to join the show as Tatia.
