'Insecure' Season 2 Air Date & Spoilers, New Cast & Series Regular, Season 1 Finale "Broken AF" Recap
As the first season of "Insecure" comes to a close, the HBO comedy series gets real with the episode entitled "Broken AF" as the ramifications of Issa's actions hit her right in the face. Issa's relationships with her boyfriend and best friend get a somewhat happy ending to the otherwise carefree Issa. (Spoiler alert!)
The penultimate episode of "Insecure" ended with Lawrence dumping Issa, Jered dumping Molly, and Molly with four of her friends go on a night out. They were in a hot tub, consoling Molly about her self-sabotaging tendencies, Issa suddenly gets up to answer an unexpected call from Lawrence. Apparently, Lawrence called Issa up right after he was offered to pay for sex. Issa then apologizes over and over, telling him that he can stay over her apartment since she won't be there the entire weekend.
Molly drives Issa back to her apartment, hoping to find Lawrence. The silence was deafening in the car, and Molly tries to break the tension by asking Issa to pretend she's Lawrence and rehearse what she's planning to tell him. Issa then starts apologizing, which is also a bit of apology for Molly. Molly then opened up to Issa, telling her that she does not want to be the person they all think she is.
As the two friends of "Insecure" tries to sort out their friendship, they arrive at the apartment. Of course, being the season finale, this could be the moment the two lovers get back together, considering that Issa has truly regretted cheating on him, and she is willing to change. But, to her surprise, she comes home to an apartment without Lawrence, free from Lawrence's things.
While the final scene of "Insecure" season 1 finale is a redemption for Lawrence from Issa's cheating, with Issa and Molly fixing their friendship, all could be right in the world. After all, they still have each other's friendship to count on.
In the sophomore season of "Insecure" HBO series, Natasha Rothwell, a former writer turned on-screen actress, will be a series regular, writes Bustle. It will be 10-episode long, 2-episode longer than the forerunner. "Insecure" Season 2 will probably premiere in the fall of 2017, adds Bustle's report.
