The Pebble 2 May Have Much Improvement But Is Still Not Good Enough To Replace Garmin; Forerunner As A Running Watch
The Pebble 2 has redeemed its predecessor in terms of practically all aspects of its usage including its capability to be a companion for runners. Pebble started out in 2012 and people barely noticed it. The smart watch industry wasn't really for that hype, even until today. Despite the snob, Pebble was praised being able to run under any mobile operating system, not siding to either iOS or Android.
Running accessories have flourished in the market, from socks to shoes, to smart swatches that monitor biostatistics. Here's where Pebble 2 inserts as it challenges Garmin: Forerunner, a watch that is purely designed for running. A post at Forbes says about a study between Forerunner 220 vs Pebble 2, the challenge coming from Pebble is that it can offer to stay on the user's wrist catering to all user demands despite the activities he or she is into, including running. Whereas Garmin: Forerunner 220 is only for running.
This makes a pretty good argument so a comparison about both devices was done and the observations were posted as an article, a good one too. The battle between Pebble 2 and Garmin: Forerunner 220 were very close with minimal variances. For instance, when measuring heart rate, Pebble 2 fell behind a few milliseconds (or maybe microseconds, nobody's counting) compared to how Garmin: Forerunner 220 reads.
In summary, the Pebble 2 was declared to be ambitious in aspiring to be the perfect running assistant but the Garmin: Forerunner 220 is still favorable. After all, it was solely made for running. Regardless, the Pebble 2 would still make a great running companion if you don't have something that is specialized for running such as Garmin. But if you already do have watches geared towards being a running companion, leave the Pebble 2 at home and use that running watch, especially if it tries to compete with a high-end Garmin.
