Comcast signed a deal with Dish Network that Sling TV internet service will be launched in the Comcast X1 platform. Dish Network is one of the competitors of Comcast and the partnership is unusual as they both deliver practically similar internet content services.

While the partnership seems uncommon as they are competing with practically the same market, there is more to the deal than meets the eye. Subscribers of both Sling TV and Comcast will be able to notice the similarity, from the core packages and TV channels slate. As it turns out, the deal between these two companies is primarily for the international and multicultural programming options of Sling TV to its video subscribers.

Aside from the "skinny bundles" offered by Sling TV along with news and sports, general entertainment channels, the company also provides add-ons programming language packs that are suited to bilingual, English-dominant, and Spanish-dominant households in the United States. In fact, the multicultural programming bundles of Sling TV offers over 320 channels with 21 languages to choose from such as Chinese, Hindi, Italian, Arabic, Urdu, Vietnamese, Polish, and German to name a few.

In addition to the multicultural programming, Sling TV will be a great addition to the international programming slate on Comcast X1 that enhances its offerings to consumers. Comcast observed the diversity of its customers and it wants to deliver more multicultural and customized programming to X1 that is convenient and fast.

Netflix was launched on Comcast X1 Infinity earlier this month, and Comcast is aiming at offering convenient cable service for home entertainment. The aim comes after gaining 22.4 million subscribers in total as of September, and the company is expecting 50 percent more X1 subscribers by the end of the year.

Comcast and Dish Network did not reveal when Sling TV will be launched on X1 but promise to reveal more details about the deal soon.
