The Walking Dead Season 7: Carl Vs. Negan; The Good Boy Is Now A Badass
The fifth episode of "The Walking Dead" ended with Carl (Chandler Riggs) hiding in a truck that is headed to where Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) resides - the Saviors' compound. This scene is different from the comic source book material but resembles issue #104 of Robert Kirkman's series. The next five episodes will see Carl turning from being a good boy into a complete badass.
"The Walking Dead" will finally see the transformation of Carl into a badass that is closer to his comics counterpart, Cinema Blend reports. When Carl attempted to kill Negan, the latter was not upset and was impressed by the young boy's pluck and bravery. This development might lead to a mentor-student relationship that is formative for Carl's character.
According to "Vanity Fair" magazine, younger Grimes is now back on course in "The Walking Dead" series after few hints that it may diverge from the comics. Carl has grown into a young man showing several rebellious moments including refusing to scavenge with Rick.
Actor Andrew Lincoln was interviewed by "TV Insider" wherein he shared the growing relationship between Carl and Negan. According to Lincoln, he is interested in the relationship between Negan-Carl and Carl-Rick in "The Walking Dead". He adds that "there's a very complicated, extraordinary psychology between those characters."
Carl's unsuccessful attempt to take Negan down himself and how he thwarted a couple of Negan's men in episode 5 of "The Walking Dead" illustrate the boy's emergence as a threat (or a possible ally?) to Negan. The latter did not bash Carl's head with Lucille but tried to mentor him in the ways of the Saviors.
Fans of "The Walking Dead" are wondering if Daryl might be taking Carl's place in the story arc. Daryl ended up in Negan's camp, waiting to be groomed into a Savior. But Carl chose to take Negan on his own. Will he make it out alive like in the comics?
